To al REC Users:
Remote Echo Control (REC) is far from finished. It seems that hardly a day
goes by that someone doesn't recommend an improvement or an new feature. I
do consider all such suggestions, and encourage you to continue to send them
in. I will do my best to reply to each of you as soon as possible.
Several changes are being planned for version 2.00, most noteably being the
support needed for the next release of Zmail, which will be a fully domain
aware mail processor. But even though REC was written initially with Zmail
in mind, that doesn't mean it won't support other mail processors. Currently
I am investigating how to implement full support for the Squish mail processor
that comes with the Maximus BBS software.
There will also be some changes in how Cross-Zone support will work, that
should improve that feature dramatically. The Security and Lockout statements
will be modified so you can put multiple echos and/or systems on the same line
of the configuration file. Some additional batch file commands will be added
that will allow you even greater control in that area.
Other features are still being considered for REC 2.00 as well. Many of
these features come from user suggestions as well as my own experience. I
can always be reached via the ZMAIL support echo, or via direct net-mail.
For details on how to contact me, please read the first section of the Sysop
Documentation.
Thanks again for using and supporting REC. Best of luck to you in your
BBS'ing. Later!
